The youth program of FUMC Galax, affectionately called “GUMY” for Galax United Methodist Youth, is one of our most active ministries. The program consist of Junior and Senior High, sixth to eight grade comprising the Junior High and ninth to twelfth grade the Senior High. The group is very active within the local community and beyond.
GUMY’s major annual events are a trip to Gatlinburg, TN for the Holston Annual Conference sponsored event, Resurrection, and a Senior High Mission Trip. Incorporate those two events into a year filled with worship, fellowship, and fun and you’ve got an extremely busy youth group.
As GUMY, we will reach out and minister with our brothers and sisters in Christ, to both the lost and found of the Church, community, and the world through multiple ministries as we strive to follow the command written in I Timothy 4:12.
Our mission is to serve everyone including the least of these through love as we change the world one soul at a time.
Our Regular Meeting Times are as Follows:
During the school year, GUMY meets at the church every Sunday night from 5:30pm-7pm. Any and all are welcome. Also during the school year, there is a 7:30am breakfast Bible study on Mondays at Ciro’s restaurant. Youth study a chapter of the ongoing Bible study each week, while enjoying a time of fellowship over dinner.
