Prayer for the Week (May 3-May 9)

Let us pray to God that we always listen to the voice of Jesus, our Good Shepherd: Almighty and loving Father, you have given us a reliable and caring guide to lead us to you and to one another, your Son and our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ. Help us to hear the Good Shepherd’s voice even in the silence of our faith, in the the groaning of our miseries, and in the words of encouragement and joy of the shepherds of Christ’s Church and of everyone who has a good word for us, for there too speaks and calls our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Sunday Reflection (May 3, 2020)

Among the earliest images of the art of Christ is Christ as the Good Shepherd (John 10:1-10). The voice of the divine shepherd may be loud and clear, yet there are times we may have trouble differentiating between the voice of the thief and the Divine Shepherd. Despite our failures, Jesus calls you and me by name. May you and I respond by listening to and following that divine voice. Take the time to develop a relationship with God so that you more clearly recognize the voice of the Divine Shepherd speaking to us through the Holy Spirit.
