Sunday Reflection (March 27, 2022)

Despite our hostility toward God and one another, God has taken the initiative,
through Jesus Christ, to reconcile us and the world to God (2 Corinthians 5:17-18). This is indeed Good News! From God’s perspective, reconciliation has already been accomplished, but from our perspective, it is a different story. We still experience the brokenness of relationships and the brokenness of this world, yet into this brokenness, we have been chosen to represent Christ to the Word as Ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:18-21).

Where there is pain and brokenness, we make amends and bring healing because we are involved in the ministry of reconciliation. This process of reconciliation is difficult and certainly takes time, yet as ambassadors of God, we bring peace, reconciliation, love, and forgiveness to the human experience. We have, indeed, been entrusted with something special: The ministry of reconciliation!

Prayer for the Week (March 27, 2022-April 2, 2022)

Let us pray to God our Father that we experience the joy of his lasting forgiveness: God, when we have lost our way, when we seek false happiness in the dark land of sin, you send your Son to search for us and bring us back to you.  Through the Holy Spirit, let us feel deeply that you are looking forward to welcome us with joy, and to restore us in your life and love. Give us the humble courage to return to you, our God and Father forever.
Amen.

Sunday Reflection (March 20, 2022)

We may witness bad events or outcomes to someone or a group of people and assume we are not as bad as they are and perhaps it served ‘em right. We may get so caught up in the sins and failures of others that we overlook our own sins and failures. It is then that we do not hear what Jesus says to us directly: “Unless you keep repenting, you too will perish.”

Lenten Season is not about examining the sins of other people. It is about examining our own sins and taking responsibility for our own sins. God takes deliberate steps to enable us to repent and be fruitful (Luke 13:1-9). God nourishes us with opportunities for spiritual growth in love, kindness, and mercy as well as opportunities for ministry. Do you respond to God’s opportunities? Do I respond to God’s opportunities? Do we as a congregation of Christ’s Church respond to those opportunities?

Prayer for the Week (March 20, 2022-March 26, 2022)

Let us pray that God give us the courage to repent and turn to him and to people in love: Patient God, we are reluctant and slow to make the change of heart we need. Give us the time to understand the extent of your mercy and your love which your Son Jesus showed us in its fullness in his suffering and death. Recognize your own Son in us and accept us in our poverty.  Raise us up and change us so that we proclaim your persistent love through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.
